East-End

The video ‘East-End’ was shot in a resort town, Oostende, Belgium, combined with a fictional story of a traveler. The artificial holiday atmosphere is recreated between the video and an installation of silver streamers and a blue spotlight. Originally, Oostende was built on the east-end of an island on the North Sea. The footage from a window, with overlays of images of a video camera, and mirror images distract viewers from entering a seamless reality to evoke the perception of being an outsider.
