'Nekonome' consists of a two-channel video shot at a museum in Japan combined with a story based on a well-known Japanese novel. The camera observes artworks from the early 20th century, while subtitles tell the story. Presented in front of this video is the sculpture, 'Moeder en Kind' by Belgian artist George Minne. Sculptures from the early 20th century in Belgium and in Japan are both influenced by Auguste Rodin. 'Nekonome' represents the influence of European culture on world history and its subsequent effect on art.
